I Hate The Michael Sam Hoopla

Yep, I said it… I’m tired of hearing about Michael Sam. Yes I appreciate the courage it took for Sam to come out and become the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL. But we are now glorifying any aspect of his potential professional career just to keep the ratings going. ESPN had a headline this morning just highlighting him getting a physical. Now its a major tag on their site and it is becoming a big deal that he is on their practice squad. Let me recap that for you.. it is becoming a major story that a 7th round draft pick who was cut from his original team just signed for a practice squad.

Again, I’m all for equality and I have no issues with Michael Sam’s life decisions. The bottom line is that if Michael Sam can make plays, he can become a contributing member to a team and we should cover him for that.
